Emmy's summer is always way more exciting than the rest of ours. She's at the age where life presents lots of opportunities for fun and she took full advantage of them this summer.
Especially For Youth at BYU. Based on the few pictures I saw on Twitter, I know for a fact she made lots of BOY friends. I don't think I saw a single picture of her with the girls in her company although she assures me she spent some time with them. But these two boys especially made an impression on her. It's easy to see why - they're adorable. She was very sad and mopey the first week home from EFY and let us know just how much she missed it every day. She said she wished she could live at EFY and we told her she just needed to get into BYU for college.
Girls camp - Our ward's theme was B.O.O.T. camp (Building On Our Testimony) and they dubbed themselves "Protectors of the Flame", the flame being the Young Women's value flame. Emmy gave everyone dog tags with their names and camp theme on them. She doesn't have any close friends in our ward but she enjoyed herself all the same. She found friends in neighboring wards/camps and spent a lot of time there.
Ballroom Camp - also at BYU. This is her second year going to this camp. It definitely fuels her ballroom passion. This year she learned the cha cha, fox trot, swing, viennese waltz, salsa and nightclub 2 step. She made some great new friends, some of who are local so she can actually see them after camp is over. Funny thing - her roommate (who she had never met before) was from Michigan and they happened to bring the exact same dress to wear at the showcase at the end of the week for the parents.
In the video below, she's the one in the red dress.
Ryan, her foxtrot partner
Zach, her cha cha partner
Charli and Emily, two of her teachers who are engaged and performed at the showcase. They were amazing.
Two of her roommates and new bff's, Lauren from Michigan and Hailey from Bountiful. They have already had a post-camp sleepover.
