Catch Up

It's been 2 1/2 years since I last blogged.  (That sounds like the first line of a Catholic confession, doesn't it?)  Blogging was a huge trend that has fallen by the wayside for me because of other methods of documenting my family's history like Project Life digital scrapbook pages which I print out for books, Instagram and Facebook.  But they are all photo heavy and light on words, which may be a disappointment for our posterity.  So I will make more of an effort to blog again even though it is digital and, in my mother's words, may be wiped out with a single EMP.

In the last 2 1/2 years, I have dived even deeper into the world of tennis.  I play on 2 different daytime womens' league teams, captaining one of them.  The main responsibility of being a captain is forming a team for each league season (every few months), choosing the lineup for the upcoming matches and arranging team practices (my weakness - I prefer everyone to just practice on their own time).  I have had a moderate amount of success and have moved from a 2.5 level to a 3.0, and am currently trying hard to move up to 3.5  In addition to league teams, I am signing up for every tournament that I can, as that can boost your rating just by participating.  Diane Snyder and I have just recently participated in the Albion Ice Breaker Tournament, winning our first match but losing the second so not moving on to the finals.  I have met so many new friends through this hobby from all walks of life.  It has broadened my world view and allowed me to step out of my comfort level when it comes to socializing.  It is a huge part of my life.  Some days I feel guilty for spending so much time playing tennis and think that I should be doing something more substantial like working or community service or church service, but I always come back to the fact that it is a great form of exercise and socializing which I need.
